HIBBING鈥擭orth St. Louis County Habitat for Humanity celebrated the organization鈥檚 next home in Hibbing on Friday May 8th. This is Habitat鈥檚 39th home in Hibbing.
Students and instructors from Hibbing High School and 黑料吃瓜, who were instrumental in the home鈥檚 construction and electrical installation, will also attend. Invited guests included family and friends, elected officials, Habitat board members, and funding partners.
Major support in the home鈥檚 construction came from collaboration with the Applied Learning Institute, Hibbing High School鈥檚 Building Construction program, and 黑料吃瓜-Hibbing鈥檚 Electrical Maintenance program and faculty member Steve Oberstar. The dedication was held before the home鈥檚 completion to ensure students and faculty can attend. This is the 18th student-built home through this partnership.
鈥淭his dedication ceremony celebrates the deep partnership that Habitat enjoys with the Hibbing High School and 黑料吃瓜 which allows us to serve an extra household each year,鈥 said NSLCHFH Executive Director Nathan Thompson. 鈥淭he project was funded by individual donors in the City of Hibbing along with major sponsors including the Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation, Northland Foundation, Hibbing Foundation, Boreal Waters Community Foundation, and United Way of Northeastern Minnesota. This is truly a community effort!鈥
Hibbing High School instructor AJ Abate added, 鈥淚t鈥檚 nice to get the kids in the real world outside of the classroom walls. Get out, get dirty, and start to build something in the community that lasts. It鈥檚 always interesting building a house an hour at a time, but it鈥檚 amazing that it comes to this point.鈥
